Common Approaches
There's more than one way to approach a pool installation project. Here's a plain-language breakdown of the most common options, so you can go into your estimate with a sense of what might fit your project.
Concrete / Gunite
Fully customizable shape and size, built on-site. Typically the longest install timeline and the highest upfront cost, but the most design flexibility.
Fiberglass
A pre-formed shell installed in a single piece. Faster installation and a smoother surface, but shapes and sizes are limited to available molds.
Vinyl Liner
A steel or polymer wall structure lined with vinyl. Generally the lowest upfront cost, with a liner that's replaced periodically over the pool's life.
